The Worship Team Ministry

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care."  Psalm 95:6-7

/files/Documents/worshipteam_Resized_283x212.jpgAt the essence, worship is the act of acknowledging that God is in charge, not us, and is worthy of our praise and thanks.

Worship is the most common of all ministries that occurs in jails. Our Worship Teams are comprised of partner volunteers from local congregations who go into the jails and spend time in worship and fellowship with the incarcerated men and women. We go, simply, because they cannot come.

The style of worship is as varied as our teams. We encourage and expect each team to take ownership of their team as their own ministry (because it is). Thus, each team worships out of its own tradition.

While we each have our particular convictions--doctrinal distinctives--worship teams are not to condemn those whose beliefs and practices may differ. While TJM holds to a historic (orthodox) perspective of the Christian faith (including the same core doctrines agreed upon by Evangelical and Mainline Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox traditions), we believe our freedom to worship is best protected when we defend the rights of all faiths to worship freely. Therefore, it is accurate to consider TJM both an ecumenical-Christian and interfaith ministry. In many cases, our diversity has led to encouraging interfaith dialogue among our volunteers and others in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Currently, nearly 95 TJM Worship Teams visit the jails in Cincinnati (Hamilton County) representing more than 20 denominations.  All Worship Teams adhere to a comprehensive list of Policies and Procedures to ensure the safety and security within the jail facilities and among our volunteers.
